Ingredients :
4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
2 onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, grated
2 green chilies, chopped (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon ground coriander
Salt to taste
Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Banane Ki Vidhi
- Sauté aromatics: Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter for a few seconds. Then add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add onions and tomatoes: Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn translucent. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and break down, forming a thick mixture.
- Season: Add turmeric powder, ground coriander, and salt to taste. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the chutney simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency. If the chutney becomes too dry, you can add a splash of water.
- Garnish: Once the chutney is done, remove it from the heat and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.
Serve: Serve the Tomato and Onion Chutney as a condiment alongside your favorite Indian dishes, such as dosa, idli, or rice.
